Behind the Wines | Okanagan Valley with Kevin & Simon

In our Behind the Wines tasting series, winemakers, producers, and enthusiasts tell stories behind their wines while savoring the flavors created by these tales.  Enhance your understanding of what goes on in making wines and further your local and international wine knowledge. Canada isn’t just ice wine - select pockets of the country are capable of producing everything from delicate or textural sparkling wines, all the way to rich and brooding red blends.

The Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada has a rugged and dramatic landscape, defined by a series of deep lakes, with an inland desert climate and noted for having the highest average yearly temperature in the country.  The Okanagan is home to dozens of small-scale producers, offering over 50 different varietals.

Explore the Okanagan Valley through six wines, comparing and contrasting the different soils, climates, and geography of the region. The focus of the evening will be on exploring the unique terroir of the different benches, and getting a birds-eye view of the region, all while tasting some very exclusive wines.

Kevin & Simon cut their teeth in the Okanagan Valley, building relationships with local producers and enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the wine industry. They moved to Blenhiem in 2020, and through frequent travel back to Canada have a respectable stock of Canadian wine, especially for sharing with friends. They are looking forward to sharing their personal experiences of the Okanagan Valley, alongside some of their favourite wines.
