The Fidelio building, a heritage weatherboard station with a red tile roof
Blenheim · Marlborough, NZ

The cellar door forwineries without one.

Marlborough has hundreds of growers and barely forty cellar doors. We pour the rest, the small producers you can't visit, in the old Blenheim railway station, by the glass, the flight, or the bottle to take home.

The wines you can't visit

Most Marlborough labels are made by people with a vineyard, a contract winemaker and no front door. We track them down, taste everything, and pour what earns its place.

In town, not out of it

The cellar doors are a forty-minute round trip and shut at five. We're a two-minute walk from the Coastal Pacific platform and open until eight.

Taste before you commit

Every bottle on the shelf is open somewhere in the room. Try a pour, buy the bottle at cellar price, and skip the guesswork.

with a long list.

Fidelio opened in March 2026 in the old Blenheim railway station, on the theory that a town sitting in the middle of the most-planted wine region in the country deserved somewhere to drink it that wasn't a forty-minute drive and closed by five.

Sommelier Neil Kapadia chooses everything on the list, with a bias towards the other side of Marlborough: the Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, Rieslings and Pinot Gris from small producers who have no cellar door of their own. The room does two jobs — a café through the day, and from the afternoon a cellar door for the growers who never had one.
